Barbara Britton was one of the most glamorous women on television in the 1950’s. The face of Revlon was also a talented actress, starring in Paramount films in the 1940’s before making her TV debut in 1950. In 1952, she landed the role of Pamela North opposite Richard Denning as Jerry North on Mr. & Mrs. North, a show some call the precursor to the hit ‘80s show Hart to Hart.

Mr. & Mrs. North is a mystery-comedy TV show with a long history. Author Richard Lockridge began writing Mr. and Mrs. North vignettes for the New York Sun in 1930, and later wrote short stories starring the couple for The New Yorker. The shorts were put together as a book in 1936, then there was a novel (The Norths Meet Murder) in 1940 with 26 more to follow. A Broadway play premiered in 1941, then an MGM film in 1942, and from then until 1954, it was a radio show. The Mr. & Mrs. North TV show didn’t air until 1952, more than 20 years after the first short stories were penned!
